Opening and Releasing Through the Shoulders and Neck
Hatha Yoga Workshop & Afternoon Tea
Sunday 24th February 2-5pm
On the last Sunday afternoon of each month, from 2-5pm, join Gillian for an alignment-based hatha yoga workshop focusing on a particular theme, or exploring a specific part of the body. After the workshop, enjoy afternoon tea and cake in the Drawing Room of Beckenham Place Mansion, looking over the beautiful grounds of Beckenham Place Park.
The next Sunday Afternoon Special focuses on opening and releasing through the shoulders and neck.
Are you often feeling tight and tense in the shoulders and neck? Are you often slouched at your desk, or slumped over a lap-top, or computer? Would you like to enjoy better posture, freedom from pain, and a feeling of spaciousness in your upper body? Perhaps you would like to learn how to take the weight of the world off your shoulders.
This workshop explores how to bring shoulders, neck, upper-back and head into alignment to release stress and tension and increase awareness of unhelpful movement patterns that might be leading to chronic problems of restriction in the upper body.
The workshop offers a series of stretches, stabilising and strengthening poses, many of which can easily be practiced at home to begin to regularly realign posture and generate healthy patterns of moving and breathing.
The aim of the workshop is to lend awareness to shoulder and neck movement sequences that aid a gentle process of self-enquiry leading to a deeper understanding not only of what is going on in the body, but also in work and daily life. Reserve your place below.
